Description

So, generic title aside, I have been working on this picture for quite a few days recently! I had an epiphany that totally made my profile face drawing much better! I think this turned out better than expected! I have also been experimenting with lighting and anatomy! Critiques VERY MUCH requested!

By the by, that is my pokemon trainer, (Jessica, I think I named her) and her main pokemon, Goodra.

(If I asked you to redline: Just the person please! Thanks a ton!)

Before I offer any other critique, I want to say that I find this picture very sweet and endearing. You show the bond between Pokemon and trainer very well. I especially like how you rendered Goodra’s eyes.

The sweater is interesting-looking. It looks like magma all throughout her sweater. Is that a nod to Goodra’s drippiness? If so, it’s a pretty clever way to show their bond (although I can’t say that I would want a Pokemon so slimy/drippy)! As far as anatomy goes, this is a pretty good job. Her hair looks nice too - it’s got a “messy chic” quality to it. One thing I’d have liked in this piece of art is a bit more color. For the most part, it’s pretty light-colored, and looks a smidgen washed out. If you were going for a super soft vibe, by all means, keep it - but if you don’t mind playing around with color a bit more, maybe see if you like it better with a brighter green grass and a brighter blue sky. (Or you can try adding a bright color to just one part of it.)

I think you did a fantastic job on her eyes too. They look warm and soothing. And I have to say - whatever the profile epiphany is that you had - it seems to have worked! This is a great profile shot! Thank you for creating this wonderful piece.
